JULY 2021 (1)

What a great start to a new month, Larry has sent the most fabulous watercolour, he says; Another painting that you may wish to put on the blog. I am a member of the Herefordshire Painting Club and we have just resumed our meetings, all outside, after the relaxation of the Covid 19 restrictions. This is of Little Malvern Court, near British Camp on the Malvern Hills, we visited there a week ago last Monday. I started the painting whilst there and have finished it at home. The painting only shows part of the house and extensive gardens. If anyone is interested in regular plein air painting then I would recommend they check out the club, www.herefordshire-painting-club.com they meet every week from spring through to autumn, have an exhibition in Ledbury, normally in September, and occasional indoor tutorial/demonstrations."

This really is something Larry and when the weather is fine, I am sure there will be several people who will want to check out the club.

I am afraid to say that when I tried I could not reach the clubs web site via your link, but I did find an old article about the club which I have copied below.  It gives a telephone number for Richard Bavin. Perhaps you can confirm whether or not this information is still correct and if Richard is who folks should contact for more details?

Copied from Hereford Times post dated 14th March 2015:
It can all seem a little daunting on your own, which is why Herefordshire Painting Club came into being 40 years ago, as Richard Bavin explains. "We go out painting together weekly from April to September, a different day of the week each time (not weekends), and this year our programme includes the Weir at daffodil time, Grosmont village and Brobury Gardens."We are very fortunate to be invited to paint in private gardens across the county too. The weather has its challenges, especially when it’s wet, but with a large umbrella or waterproof we can still get something down on paper before we retreat for a cup of tea. Two of our painting days are tutored each year, and we also have a painting demonstration at our indoor meeting on Saturday, March 21 from 10am to 12.30pm at Bodenham Village Hall - new members welcome.

Our members come from all over the county and range from complete beginners to professional artists. One of our long standing members is now 97, and she still comes out rain or shine."

Membership costs £15 for the year which includes the annual programme, three newsletters, and two formal gatherings. We have an annual painting competition and a bi-annual exhibition which this year will be part of h.Art.

If you would like to know more or to join Herefordshire Painting Club, visit herefordshire-painting-club.com or call Richard on 01432 830168.
