APRIL 2022 (2)

An email from Larry today, he says, "It seems ages since I sent you anything for the blog. I must admit that I have been rather preoccupied with carrying out some diy at an old cottage that our daughter moved into just before Christmas. However here is the painting that I started on Monday at Little Hereford Village Hall. It is of the Tynllidiart Farmhouse in the Elan Valley, now holiday accommodation, available through the Elan Valley Estate. It is loosely based on a couple of photographs that I have taken whilst cycling in the area. The view is of the farmhouse looking at it across the Garreg-ddu Reservoir."  No need to apologise, Larry we all have things that get in the way of our painting, the main thing is that we return to it;

and this is a great painting, Larry, it really captures the feel of the Welsh landscape.  I enlarged it on my screen and can see that it is beautifully executed, lovely washes and the granulation perfectly depicting the background hills and trees whilst the farmhouse is sharp and clear.
