As it is Easter Week Susie thought that instead of drawing, we could decorate eggs. WOW!
For the eggs you can boil or blow (using a needle each end then enlarge one end in order to blow the egg out).
If blown it is essential to allow the egg to completely dry out before attempting to paint it. A covering coat of paint (emulsion or chalk paint) is also helpful.
For colouring, felt tips, acrylic or water colours are all good and finishing off with clear varnish (nail varnish is OK) gives a clear wipeable surface.
Collage or decoupage are all pretty so bring any glue you may need as well as stickers, pretty paper, etc. Basically, anything can be used, you supply the inspiration.
Susie will bring the eggs decorated by her family, over the years, and any materials she has in her craft drawer.
You will need an egg cup or similar to help support while decorating.
Bear in mind you will be working on a curved surface, so in many ways the simpler the design the more successful.
Susie has also made enquiries about goose eggs; Mr Bright the butcher in Leominster may have some once the geese start laying, so if you fancy trying a larger egg, telephone him to check he has some first 01568 612711. Hens eggs are fine as long as shell is hard.
Roundabout stationary sell polystyrene eggs which would be suitable for collage or decoupage decorations.
